As the year comes to a close, The Remy Corporation is able to reflect on 2017 as an absolute success, both for our business and most importantly our commitment to giving back to our beloved community.

Our Mission

Upon joining Pledge 1% Colorado, we approached the pledge with a very unique concept for our mission. The Remy Corporation has been an established professional service in Denver, CO since 1999. But this year we wanted to make a change outside the corporate realm. Early 2016, Remy Corporation purchased a mountain property called Greystone Ranch out near Woodland Park, Colorado. Our mission for Pledge 1% was to utilize the ranch to help, guide, reunite and rehabilitate those who need it most, our Veterans. The ranch provides a range of activities from skeet shooting and archery to cattle herding and fishing, with an on-site facilitator, motoring and mentoring 24-7. This sanctuary was built to accommodate any person’s needs and desires when recovering from past traumas. Our target attendees were individuals who suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and other life inflicting complications. Our goal was to provide this resource to at least five victims of these disorders and their families throughout 2017.

Our Accomplishments

During the past year, Greystone Ranch has seen up to 14 individuals, most of whom were Veterans struggling with PTSD and TBI. With the abundant of activities provided at the ranch, we found that most attendees chose to decompress, connect with nature and the animals, as well as share their stories. For example, we had one Veteran suffering from PTSD due to a Traumatic Brain Injury, who spent most of his time with the cattle herd we had on site, feeding them and walking amongst them.

And aside from bonding with the livestock, he resorted to manual labor like clearing brush and repairing the fence stating, “I am happy to do so because it the best way to clear my mind.” He later shared with us that his experience at Greystone Ranch was the best rehabilitation he ever had.” We are proud to say that all 14 attendees had an incredible experience as well.

We know that Greystone Ranch by no means is the cure to an individual’s trauma, however it does give them a place to escape, relax and reflect without interference or judgement. It provides them with a sense of momentary peace, which to some struggling with PTSD and other life inflicting injuries, can mean the difference between life and death, even if it is only for short period of time.

As for the cattle herd, all our steers were harvested and sold to local restaurants throughout the Denver Metro area, in turn, providing them with all organic, grass fed fresh beef to serve to their customers.

Our New Goal

We are extremely honored to contribute 160 hours to the Pledge 1% Colorado organization, our community and most importantly, our Veterans. It is the least we can do to show our respect for the individuals who sacrifice their lives every day for our safety and freedom. We can only hope to help more people in the coming year. Remy Corporation is here to help, listen and rehabilitate anyone who is struggling with PTSD, TBI, domestic abuse, and any other life inflicting injury or disorder. Spread the word about Greystone Ranch; we want to be the change that makes this world a better place.
